Dengue IgG Test

Dengue IgG test is a blood test that detects the presence of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against the dengue virus. These antibodies are produced by the immune system as a response to a dengue infection. The test can help determine whether an individual has been previously infected with the virus.

• The dengue IgG test is typically performed after the acute phase of the illness, which is when symptoms are present. It can be useful in identifying past dengue infections, which can be helpful in surveillance and outbreak investigation. It can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of dengue vaccination programs.

The test involves taking a small blood sample from the individual and sending it to a laboratory for analysis. Results are usually available within a few days.

The dengue IgG test is not useful for diagnosing an acute infection with the virus. For this purpose, a dengue IgM test may be more appropriate.
