The Trop T test measures the amount of troponin T proteins in the blood. Troponin is released when heart muscle cells are damaged and is one of the preferred cardiac markers used in emergency rooms for rapidly diagnosing a heart attack or myocardial infarction. Higher than normal levels indicate injury to the heart.
