Cobalt Test (Blood)

During the test, a healthcare provider will collect a blood sample from a vein in the patient's arm using a needle. The blood sample is then sent to a laboratory for analysis.

The results of the Cobalt Test (Blood) can help healthcare providers determine if a patient has been exposed to high levels of cobalt and if they are experiencing cobalt toxicity. Treatment may include removing the source of exposure, supportive care, and chelation therapy to remove excess cobalt from the body.

Healthcare providers may also order other tests, such as a Cobalt Test (Urine) or a complete blood count (CBC), to help diagnose and monitor cobalt toxicity.
