Description

HIV Monitoring Panel Tests

Human Immunodeficiency Virus, or HIV, causes AIDS. The HIV Monitoring Panel tests are done to identify antibodies against the HIV antigen in the blood. Sometimes the HIV Monitoring Panel tests detect HIV antibody in the oral fluids as well. The HIV Monitoring Panel tests are also helpful in assessing the risk of disease progression and in monitoring the progress of antiviral treatment. The virus appears in the body when a person uses a contaminated needle or when the body comes in contact with the blood or fluid of a contaminated person.

  2. HIV-1 Viral load Quantitative by Taqman

In order to check whether you are infected with the Virus, you need to be tested. It is recommended to get tested between the ages of 13-64. In case of a threat of an exposure to the virus or before and during pregnancy, the HIV Monitoring Panel Tests should be carried out.

  • 10-12hrs overnight fasting is NOT advised
  • A doctor’s prescription may be needed
  • The normal test results may vary depending on gender, age, health history, etc.
  • Inform your doctor if you’ve been taking medicines or drugs, and he might ask you to stop. Certain medications can interact with your HIV Monitoring Panel Tests result. Talk to your doctor.
