Coronavirus Pune, In order to successfully curb the coronavirus from spreading further in Pune, it is important for people to not panic and get their facts right about coronavirus, its exact symptoms, and the right prevention tips.

CoronaVirus Pune, A Cause Of Concern

Pune has become a cause of concern for the centre, as a central team that visited the city said the social distancing is not being followed in the city and the rate of coronavirus transmission is high.

Not just healthcare staff and police, but vegetable vendors and shopkeepers selling have been found to be COVID-19 positive, reported the team which visited Pune earlier in April 2020.

The central team, which landed in the city on April 20, toured the containment zones, shelter camps for migrant laborers, vegetable markets, PDS shops, the municipal corporation control room, and hospitals. They also held a discussion through video-conferencing with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other senior officials.

The team has suggested that high-risk people in Pune be identified quickly and surveillance, testing and contact-tracing be increased.

How to Stop Coronavirus Spreading in Pune Pimpri Chinchwad?

CoronaVirus Pune Updates

How to stop spreading coronavirus further in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad? The answer is simple, its we, citizen’s participation makes lots of positive changes. We must be alert instead of panicking in the wake of coronavirus spread in the Pune city. Each of us must be responsible individually to avoid contact with others.

Total Time: 20 minutes

Social distancing or self-isolation must be taken seriously

Social distancing must be taken seriously as it will significantly help in preventing community spread of coronavirus. We do not have the capacity to test people on a large scale. So a lot of people are undiagnosed because of lack of sufficient testing kits. This means that we don’t know what is the prevalence of coronavirus in the community. This means that the number of cases reported and the actual number of cases is going to be different. Therefore, social distancing is very important. Majority of people infected with COVID-19 are asymptomatic. 80% of the infected people experience only mild symptoms. We have to presume that people with whom we may come in contact might be infected.

Follow personal hygiene guidelines for coronavirus prevention carefully

Frequent washing of hands with soap and water must be done several times a day. Cover your mouth with your elbow or tissue whenever coughing and sneezing. If you are using tissue, then it should be properly discarded. Also, people should consciously make the effort of not touching their face, nose, and eyes.

Do not ignore symptoms of dry cough, fever and breathlessness

People who have flu-like symptoms need not panic. The majority of the times the symptoms caused by coronavirus infection are mild, especially for the first eight days. Self-quarantine first instead of rushing to the hospital. If the symptoms get worse, which usually happens after the eighth day, then go for testing. When coronavirus symptoms worsen, it may lead to very high fever or pneumonia-like symptoms.

Do not panic with symptoms like sore throat or running nose

Immediately running to the hospital as soon as you get symptoms like running nose or sore throat, will not serve any purpose. It is important to understand that these symptoms can be caused by many other factors. We have a limited number of kits to test coronavirus currently in the country. If everyone with cough and cold report to COVID-19 helpline, we would be overwhelmed and may not be able to test those who might actually be infected with it.

Avoid going to crowded places

By now, we are all aware of how important it is to avoid going to gatherings at the moment. Places like gym, malls, cinema halls, markets must be avoided. Avoid traveling out in the Pune Pimpri Chinchwad city or crowded areas unless it is absolutely essential.

Be careful with face masks

Face masks must be used only when one is likely to come in close contact with someone who is infected. Face masks do reduce the chance of infection being passed on. If you have been experiencing symptoms or have been tested positive for COVID-19, then wearing masks will protect others. At the same time, it is important to know that masks are very crucial for health care workers who are looking after coronavirus patients. We must not panic and wear masks only when essential.
There is no scientific evidence to support that face masks can help in preventing an infection.

In fact, taking off a mask and wearing it again makes one touch face multiple times in a day. Stocking up face masks without accurate knowledge of coronavirus infection can be dangerous for the country. Masks cannot help in preventing the general public from catching coronavirus. But still, you can use hand made mask or cover mouth and nose with a hand towel.

It is not yet necessary to stock up groceries

No need to panic and create a stock of groceries. Appropriate measures are being taken by authorities to curb the spread of this infection. Having said that, we must also not be complacent. The next two to three weeks are very important to us. It is important that we all work together to contain the outbreak.

Take care of your mental health

Most of us will be spending a lot of time at home and many of our regular social activities will no longer be available to us. It will help to try and see it as a different period of time in your life, and not necessarily a bad one, even if you didn’t choose it.
It will mean a different rhythm of life, a chance to be in touch with others in different ways than usual. Be in touch with other people regularly on social media, e-mail, or on the phone, as they are still good ways of being close to the people who matter to you. Keeping your mental health strong as same as physical health is absolutely necessary for these difficult times.

Stay away from coronavirus myths

There’s so much inaccurate information floating around out there that the World Health Organization is calling it an “infodemic.” In perhaps the clearest sign of the times, WHO has joined TikTok to help set the record straight. The myths exist both on the fringes of the internet and in more mainstream outlets. And while social media platforms are now taking steps to elevate credible information and remove content that could confuse people, they’re fighting an uphill battle.

Protect your children from coronavirus

Don’t panic but still protect your children from coronavirus. According to The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, children do not appear to be at higher risk of COVID-19 than adults.

Focus on fomites to stop coronavirus spreding

Fomites can become the agent provocateur spreading Covid-19 during the lockdown. Fomites, epidemiologists use this term widely are objects that carry infection. Anything including clothes, utensils, newspapers, mobile phones, front-desk of a shop, packaged items, ATM machines and debit/credit cards, and even doorknobs, buttons in a lift, hand-rest of an escalator and furniture can be fomites.

Protect our elders from corona outbreak

There is no evidence yet that older people are significantly more likely to acquire coronavirus than younger people. But medical experts say that if people over 60 are infected, they are more likely to have a severe, life-threatening disease, even if their general health is good. Older people with underlying medical conditions are at particularly high risk. Experts attribute some of the risks to a weakening of the immune system with age. We at our end should take all necessary steps to protect our elders at home and society from the corona pandemic.

Boost your immunity level

The immune system goes through substantial changes that affect health and survival to a huge extent. Scientists believe that several factors affect your immunity. It is vital to keep your immune system at its best to fight health risks like bacterial and viral infections
From infancy to the later stage of life, you go through many changes, both on the inside and the outside. Therefore it is important to be prepared to face the challenges as you age and come out on the other side, healthier, happier, and wiser. Start working on improving your immunity as the age progresses.

Stay at home but exercise

Stay at home and strictly follow Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, State and Centre’s lock-down guidelines. Exercise, The coronavirus pandemic has changed everyone’s lives. People who kept fit by walking, running, swimming, cycling, or going to the gym are now confined to their homes. You do not need fancy or expensive equipment to exercise. You can walk at home, in a room, balcony, hallway, or terrace.
