Description

Autoimmune Liver Disease Profile

An autoimmune liver disease profile is a group of tests that is done to check for autoimmune liver disease. An autoimmune liver disease means that the body’s immune system attacks the liver.

Autoimmune liver disease profile includes:
  1. Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibody
  2. LKM1 Antibodies (Liver Kidney Microsomes)
  3. ANA Screening by IFA
  4. Anti Mitochondrial Antibody

Autoimmune liver disease profile also referred as ‘Liver disease test panel-autoimmune’

Why is the autoimmune liver disease profile test is performed?

Autoimmune disorders are a probable cause of liver disease. The most common of these diseases are autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis (formerly called primary biliary cirrhosis). This group of tests helps your doctor diagnose liver disease.

Limitations of autoimmune liver disease profile test
  • Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. Talk to your laboratory manager about the meaning of your specific test results.
  • Blood tests for autoimmune diseases are not wholly accurate. They can have false-negative results (you have the disease, but the test is negative) and false-positive results (you do not have the disease, but the test is positive).
  • A weakly positive or low titer positive test for autoimmune disease is often not because of any disease.
  • A positive test on the panel may be a sign of autoimmune hepatitis or other autoimmune liver disease.
  • If the test is positive mostly for anti-mitochondrial antibodies, you are likely to have primary biliary cholangitis. If the immune proteins are high and albumin is low, you may have liver cirrhosis or chronic active hepatitis.
Autoimmune Liver Disease Profile Conditions
  • 10-12hrs overnight fasting is NOT advised
  • A doctor’s prescription may be needed
  • The normal test results may vary depending on gender, age, health history, etc.
  • Inform your doctor if you’ve been taking medicines or drugs, and he might ask you to stop. Certain medications can interact with your autoimmune liver disease profile test result. Talk to your doctor.
  • Home visit service facility available only for total test cost of above ₹999
